Opiate Epidemic

Opiate use is on the rise. And yes, it is on the rise in Jacksonville. According to an article posted on Floridapolitics.com on March 10, 2017, overdoses are ending more lives than homicide. And the majority of deaths are people in their 30's and 40's. The article shares that the opioid overdose crisis has become a top priority for Jacksonville policy makers.

What can we do to end this epidemic? Learn the signs of an opiate addiction. And learn to ask questions and offer support without enabling or judging the person with the addiction. It takes time to overcome an opiate addiction. The brain has to heal and the individual must learn coping skills.

Let's work together to help our community fight this epidemic.
